In 1985, Australian New Wave auteur Peter Weir (The Cars That Ate Paris, Gallipoli) came to America to make his first Hollywood film. For this effort, he chose Witness, a crime drama/romance piece about a young Amish boy (Lukas Haas) who sees a murder and the policeman (Harrison Ford) who must enter an Amish community to protect the boy and his mother (Kelly McGillis).
