In 1994, director Ted Demme and stand-up comedian Denis Leary collaborated on a holiday caper about a burglar who takes a very unhappily married couple hostage on Christmas Eve. The critics lauded the sharp dialogue and the performances by Leary, Kevin Spacey and Judy Davis, but the film failed to perform at the box office.
