Last month, Netflix released its first original film directly on the company's streaming service (as well as in a very limited cinematic release) and the film quickly garnered praise and early Oscar buzz. Directed by True Detective's Cary Joji Fukanaga and starring Idris Elba as the charismatic commander of a squad of child soldiers fighting in a civil war in an unnamed African country, the film featured a breakout performance by Abraham Attah, who plays the young boy thrust into combat after seeing his family gunned down. But does this foray into original film bode well for Netflix or should it be punished for war crimes? MovieDude Eric, Kent and Jonolobster head into the bush to find out.
