There's not really a one stop podcast shop on Android yet. In addition to BeyondPod you might want to check out Stitcher, Spreaker, and Soundcloud.
Re: New phone?
I use Podcast Addict. I've tried a BUNCH of others, including Downcast over in iTune. By far this one works best for me. I can easily and quickly set up a playlist and I can shuffle everything in whatever order I feel like listening to them in. There is some tweeking at first to make sure things delete when they should as well as going to the playlist I want them on. Other than that, I really don't have to mess with it.

When I go to the setting and application manager and select running. It shows podcast addict as running even though I don't have it open.

It's strange I have this app called gallery came with the phone. Then photos also. Why do I need two apps for the same thing. I'm sure the blanks might be from having things synced to other things.

Yea, that's usual of Android for some reason.... The Photos app is the one more heavily tied into Google+... it's bizarre.

That it is. Trying to get a handle on this all is hard. Kinda makes me wonder why we need so many repeat apps..
