I wanted to start a thread on Outlander.
I'm impressed at the authenticity they've put into this show. This week, they di a real, honest to goodness handfasting. The full kit & kaboodle. most impressive.
I do wonder how far into the Jacobite rebellion they'll go. Will they actually do Culloden? Will we meet Bonnie Prince Charlie?
I had also completely forgotten that Jamie was a virgin going into the marriage.

Re: Outlander
I haven't heard of this, what is it and where is it on?
Re: Outlander
It's based on a series of books by Diana Gabaldon. It's airing here in the states on Starz (same channel that Spartacus was on)
A nurse from the 1940's is in a stone circle in Scotland & inexplicably gets transported back to the highlands of Scotland during the Jacobite rebellion.
Ron Moore of BSG & Star Trek is the EP. I've so far noticed that Ira Steven Behr from Star Trek is involved as well.
The interesting thing about the books, of course there's a love story involved, but Outlander was her first novel. She didn't stay within any one genre. She didn't know you were supposed to.

Oh that sounds pretty neat. Haven't seen it advertised up here in Canada... Maybe I'll have to seek it out
Re: Outlander
I'd say it's worth it. The show is gorgeous, the music is great, the cast is very good looking, and if you've got a thing for guys' legs like I do then you're set.
Also I tore through the first book in about two days.

Let's just talk for a second at just how great Bear McCreary has become as a composer! BSG, Sarah Connor Chronicles, Walking Dead, this...seriously amazing body of work.

Perhaps a budding new John Williams?

I'd say a budding, modern John Williams. Williams has a definite orchestral style. I haven't seen him do much else. (perhaps I just don't know about it) McCreary uses it all as appropriate. I'm constantly amazed at what he comes up with.
Re: Outlander
mccreary has done an amazing job w TWD. Chris and I seem to comment on it at every monumental WD moment.
